ABOUT US
ASME stands for American Society of Mechanical engineers. We are an on campus club that allows for engineers and people interested in engineering to have: hands on experience, career development, and Industry exposure. We compete in national competitions against other school's ASME chapters in E-Fest. We also host a yearly escape room where any major can come and build or participate. This event last year was the biggest student events of the year and because of this we received the High Pines Student Organization of the year award. We also will help you develop your engineering career. During some of our weekly meetings we invite companies to come in and work on resume's, interview skills, and linkedin profile's.
OUR OFFICERS
2022-2023
RYAN MCGAUGHEY
PRESIDENT
Contacts:
BIO: My name is Ryan McGaughey. I am a fourth-year student in Mechanical Engineering at NAU participating in the Accelerated Master's Program. This is my second year being elected as the president of NAU ASME. Last year I built and lead the largest engineering collaboration event in the college's history, all while earning a 4.0 GPA. In the meantime, I am beginning my third year at Superior Industries working as a year-long intern designing custom conveying systems valuing up to $200,000. all this work is for one purpose: to improve and inspire. My passion lies in my ability to inspire the next generation of engineers. Through ASME, my leadership has made ample impacts on the engineers younger than myself, and watching these people develop professionally, academically, and socially has never made me so proud. I can't wait to see what else our amazing club can do this year!
REBEKAH WUCINICH
VICE PRESIDENT
Contacts:
BIO: Hello! My name is Rebekah Wucinich, I am a senior Studying Mechanical Engineering and I am involved in the 5 year Masters program. This is my second year as a part of ASME NAU. Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to be the Marketing Expert, and this year I will be serving as Vice President. I am so excited to see what great things we will do this year and my goal is to help as many people find ASME NAU helpful as possible.
GARRETT SIEMANN
TREASURER
Contacts:
BIO: My name is Garrett Siemann, I am a Sophomore at Northern Arizona University. I am currently the treasurer of ASME NAU. I live in Surprise, Arizona, but I was born in Anaheim, California. I'm the youngest of three, with an older brother and sister. While I miss the beaches from California, I am more than happy with all the fun adventures and experiences I have made in Arizona. Some of my interests include: football (Go Cardinals!) and other sports, dogs, and anything related to Disney. I have been CPR certified for multiple years (and I've put it to good use). After college I would like to design and build roller coasters or amusement park rides, possibly as an Imagineer for Disneyland parks. I'm very outgoing and open-minded, so I love being able to talk and hear from those around me.
BRANDON
KNUTSON
SPEAKER AND EVENTS COORDINATOR
Contacts:
BIO: Hello, I'm Brandon Knutson and I was born and raised in the pacific northwest and moved to Arizona halfway through my sophomore year of high school. I enjoy reading, weightlifting, and backpacking in the forests that remind me of my home. I also always grew up taking things apart which is why I wanted to major in Mechanical engineering. I am very excited to be on the NAU ASME officers team and to bring my skills of problem solving and event coordinating to the team.
AVA
ENGLISH
MARKETING EXPERT
Contacts:
BIO: Hello, my name is Ava English and I'm a Sophomore in Mechanical Engineering at NAU and I've been a part of NAU ASME since the beginning of my freshman year and worked on projects for the club during that time. I had the great opportunity to team lead the murder mystery escape room and be a part of the IAM3D ASME E-Fests competition. This past year I was elected as Marketing Expert for the club and with this position I can't wait to spread the news about what our club has to offer. On the more casual side of things I love to be outside in nature and I also get so much joy from painting. I also love to play basketball in my free time. Feel free to reach out to me with any engineering questions or just to talk.
ALEX
MCCLINTON
SECRETARY
Contacts:
BIO: I am Alex McClinton. I am a recent college graduate getting my bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Arizona University with Summa Cum Laude distinction. This is my first year as an officer in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers club. In the interim while searching for a full-time job I have been working as an intern at a startup called HeetShield. My main responsibility was the design and implementation of a device that could measure the thermal diffusivity of the insulation materials that were created by the rest of the team. This focused heavily on creating a design that was able to reach the desired operation parameter while keeping the overall price to a minimum. Another responsibility I had was overseeing the limit test that was responsible for discovering the failure point of our material when exposed to fire. Outside of work I am an avid fan of mountain biking and I also enjoy Star Wars.
